Tropical Storm Ketsana came ripping through here and dumped THE record for rainfall in Manila. Its the most on record, apparently but then again no-one bothered recording it until Americans came. On Boracay, it was a lot of crazy winds and rain bursts.
There were groups all over station 3 from the cave to the station-house, playing in the storm, moving with that body language saying they didn’t know how to swim to start with. Red flags indicating NO SWIMMING warnings were up, but I spent the entire day down beachside yesterday and no-one made effort to check on these idiot swimmers. Today? The day after the storm stopped? The lifeguards made it to this end of the beach for lunch.
Since it was a raging storm, of course there was barhopping. Starting at Cocolocos during 3 hours of sandblasting wind and rain, eating appetizers and drinking warm rum-cokes. They started closing up around 9:30 pm for some reason so off to Red Pirates with Jen where Maffie and Brian arriving followed by Caroline. They closed early too for some reason, little after midnight (on a saturday?). Went to Summer Place but I don’t much like it there. Too many pretentious assholes, too cool to be spoken to. We left and hit up my favorite spot… JAMMERS! Coming home to night-long brownout around 4am, I realized I’d forgotten to charge the laptop battery, left it in standby I guess. Tacos and cell-phone solitaire, not a bad substitute.
