Yup, another brownout on Boracay. As usual, they never make the news for an all-day outage on Boracay, but a few hours in Manila will. Of course, when every power outage starts exactly at 7:00 am you know it was scheduled.
After almost a month of not walking I’m white as a ghost and a little weak in the legs from atrophy. Took one large trip out to get settled with immigration and clearly over did it. In three short hours, I dehydrated, heat exhausted, and over flexed the ankles. It took nine hours and 8 liters of fluid before somewhat hydrating. Things like that put a cramp on my drinking time.
So, what happened in that time? Ah ha! Glad you asked. I perfected the modern Howard Hughs recluse-and-trash technique. Making a couple trips to the front door a week, food was resupplied by Yellow Cab Pizza and the booze by the kind souls of Pe-te and darling Rose Ann of Red Pirates… compatriots of my liver eradication program. The ole’ bug-out bag and a chair served to move said provisions rearward, into the dark recesses of an aircondioned cave.
Fast forward a few weeks and the floor is trashed, kitchen downright disgusting, and a minefeild of Tanduay and Coke bottles. Broken glass in the sink and other stuff thrown around from that day I tried standing…. think: Mommy Dearest.
Spending that much time on a bed, living thru remote controls and brownouts, will create the need for pillow washing. Today was the day I rose early for pilllow washing and drying. Then the power went out.
Oh hell…. The powers back. Nope.. Yup….. We’ll see.
