About 2 weeks ago, I lost all the sound drivers in my new laptop. It happened after I did several Critical Updates from microsoft. Ya see, even though I got my notebook in Thailand, it was still legit with a valid copy of XP Pro. After updates, all drivers were replaced with a single bluetooth hands-free driver. Thats not good.
I contact HP’s online customer support via chat and its obviously outsourced to a middle eastern country (theres a distinct difference in the way they form engrish grammar versus Indians or, for that matter, anyone on the planet). Anyhoo, he gives me instructions that dont work.
Endstate: my computer now has a BIOS claiming to have been factory installed with Vista when it never was. All the instructions he gave me were for Vista notebooks including a Vista capable BIOS……. after I told him 3 seperate times that it was XP Pro, not Vista the machine came with.
Now I have no laptop and am having to play internet/email tag with tech support when I can only contact them from other people computers.
I hadn’t known this but it seems Samuel Adams (Boston Beer Company) beer had tried to shut down a website for a mayoral candidate in Portland, Oregon. His name was Samuel Adams and it was reflected in the domain name.
Well, there’s a friend of mine that I met thru his visits to Boracay - his name is also Sam Adams and he has a nicely written note about the whole affair over on his blog: http://samueladamsblog.com/wp-trackback.php?p=3
… So here is my little protest- my little Tea Party if you will- against those tyrants who would deprive me of my right to life, liberty and the pursuit of registering my own domain name. And they can stick their cease and desist letter up their %*$.”
Be sure to read the whole thing..its pretty good.
Whilst overcome with a debiltating desease that wrecks armageddon in my sinus cavaties, I have been working on the SEO aspect of WordPress. I am happy with my research…so Rod, Positive Post.
Google Ads are limited to so many per page in order to keep their abuse to a minimum and honestly, to keep their advirtising name from being drug through the mud. I used to think i was gpoing to over wheal myself with ads but not that I’m setting the posts to a smaller scrolling format, I can only have a few and they will end up at the bottom.
Long story short, I put some in some .php that inserts several Ads on the individual post pages…but not on this index page so my placement of ads will remain continuous and conservative - controlled in other words. I can maximize the allowed google usage w/o going overkill and making it annoying.
In the process of this research, I found several sites that take advantage of the same idea but manage to go from ‘pimp’ to ‘dirty whore hustler’ by exploiting the same theory. Fortunately these pages are crappy and anyone that clicks on ads shown there, well, they deserve to be ripped off.
I was putzing around all day yesterday…trying to rehydrate and settle my stomach when the internet went out just as I sat down to do my already-late assignments. But on the bright side, I got some really good sleep in. My only problem now is that I’ve been in the air conditioning for 2 days straight so it’s not going to be easy getting back outside.
I have some new advertising stuff on the sites. Go ahead, click thru and make me rich!
UPDATE 21Mar2008: Sorry, I cannot recommend or even ask a third party to click on the google ads because I stand to gain financially from it. I did not know this until I logged into my account today and theres a whole new (and huge) terms of service I had to agree to. Presumably they would too but I guess they’re looking out for the interest of the ad-owners….I think….to be honest I’m not really sure. But they said so, and I’m sticking to it.
