DIY – Gecko Trap

ITEMS: 2  large plastic soda bottles, scissors, and clear tape.

(this can be done with a single bottle but only if you want a smaller one that you’re manually playing with)

  1. 1st bottle: cut high in the flat surface so only the “cone funnel” comes off leaving the majority still connected to the base.
  2. 2nd bottle: cut low near the base.. same idea about needing smooth walls to the end.
  3. Flip the top-complete bottle into the ‘base’ bottle making a funnel with a long entry tube. Tape together.
  4. As soon as a lizard gets in there, flip it up (or scare em) they run into the funnel and into the chamber.
  5. Hell, if you can get some insects and cap of water in the holding chamber, they might go in by themselves like a fishtrap. I use those tubular frozen popsicle tubes to drop in the open funnel, fits perfectly.

Now I’m making a long term cage from some wire mesh I have… caught a couple baby lizards a few minutes ago.
