hi! Thanks for visiting my blog.  I paid a visit to your blog too and I LOVE your photos.
I love one particular Tokay gecko shot that you got.  The green gecko was looking at the camera with a nice friendly expression on his face.
To answer your questions:  Rhinoceros beetles don't live that long.  Half of their lives are spent in the larval stage and when they become adults, they have a short time left to live.  I was able to keep my beetle alive for three months.
I think Sand isn't a good idea because of it's dessicating/ moisture absorbing qualities.  It would suck badly needed moisture that your beetle needs.  I think beach sand from boracay would even be worse! It would be like Diatomaceous earth that is used as a pesticide!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diatomaceous_earth
    Stick to coconut noir.
I've got a pet hedgehog too..  It's super cute.

Oh I also love your coconut crab pic.  The one you've taken a picture of is a female.  I see aligue or crab eggs.  Those eat ANYTHING.  Very easy to take care of although I hear they're quite dangerous when they get bigger.  Can snap off a finger.  I heard that they suspect coconut crabs may have eaten the body of Amelia Earhart at a suspected crash site.
