Found this in my daily contracting headlines, “11 Pardoned OFW’s miss Flight.” I cannot recall having ever met a human this stupid, if so then I’m sure there was drool involved. Most people would have been the first in line to board.
So what happened? These upstanding gentlemen were busted in Saudi Arabia for selling booze, a serious offense. The Philippine Embassy and OFW office go to bat, working hard to secure their release… and succeed! These guys show up to the airport with plenty of time for their midnight flight . . . and miss it. They blamed the RP Embassy because it hadn’t sent people to hand-hold them to the gate.
Did they think the plane would pick them up at the food court? Did the Manson Family forget to stop the Magic Bus? Did El Nino run amok? Maybe they were expecting a yellow submarine.
Even a simple “excuse me, but we’re lost” would have gotten you home. It’s Saudi, there are Filipino speakers all over the airport.
