In Manila Bay, a female 5.5 meter whale shark was found dead on Oct 28. They surmised it came in for the rise in plankton and krill, which somehow are now magically able to survive in pollution so bad that it kills the planets largest fish specie.

While feeding on plankton, the female whale shark was exposed to pollution, which could have caused its system to collapse. After a necropsy, plastic products and iron nails were found in the stomach.

Problem with this is that nothing seems to be getting done to tidy it up. Its a shame that there is so much destruction going on in the waters off the Philippines.

@ angel, … nope… not here… Manila Bay. As in manila. I dont think whale sharks are on any menu except in the Philippines. theres a global moratorium on it and they're not actually whales…. far smaller than anything a japanese boat would bother with.

Whales are mammal but the whale shark is a fish in the shark family. Largest in the world (for fish, not whales) and very docile. Slow and calm, you can let your kids play around them. I thought they had a bunch around Madascapula (sp?) where you spent some time?

I've yet to swim with one but its on my list.
